Also, Ash's XY team is a complete mess that annoys me to no end. It's not quite as fast as it was in BW, but enough to where it seems a bit of an issue. The pacing also feels a bit off at points. The rivals are pretty lacking for me and while Serena's development is good, Showcases themselves were boring messes that just made me wish that we had Contests again. Team Rocket is also back to their comedy relief roles and they do have some nice moments throughout the series. It has some pretty good battles, Ash is back to being a competent trainer, there's some good group chemistry with the main cast, Serena does get some good development and Clemont is probably the best handled secondary male character in the anime's history. At the moment, I'd rank XY a solid third place behind DP and AG in my list of favorite series. Compared to previous series, it's not quite as good as DP was, but it's no where near as bad as BW was. I think it's definitely worth checking out. I just feel like they have very good ideas and plans, but they were all executed terribly. In contrast, I rank B/W as one of the worst saga ever due to very bad characters (I can write an entire paragraph on why it seems to be the case, but I'll spare you guys the trouble), the over-saturated use of tournaments (the league is just as generic and possibly even worse than all tournaments from B/W) and making Team Rocket act like bland, generic bad guys, which I'm glad X/Y ditched their B/W personalities for the more comedic and goofy direction. I also rank D/P as the best Pokemon anime sagas due to having good character development, having the best rival by far, and having the best battle design mechanics for its important plot battles (although I admit it has some flaws).
WATCH POKEMON X AND Y ANIME SERIES
Just a fyi, I have always been a dubbed viewer since God knows what, so I'll be watching the dubbed version by the time I'll catch up to Japan's episodes as of today, the Kalos English series will probably be finished and will be moving towards the Aloha series by then. Due to real life distractions for the past few years, I wasn't able to watch the X/Y series up to date (I think I'm only up to 10 or so episodes), but considering many people on the video game forums likes to spoil things for me for today's Japan episode, I would then ask you this before I start marathoning the show after my final exams are done:ġ) How does the series hold up compared to its predecessors such as D/P and B/W?Ģ) Is the X/Y series still worth watching as of right now?
